Though Lynch only lasted five and a half years in his first run with the Seahawks, his excellence up in the Pacific Northwest will earn him a bronze bust in Canton. Three years later, Seattle won Super Bowl XLVIII over the Denver Broncos, getting back to the big game a year later in 2014. Two years later, Seattle drafted Russell Wilson out of Wisconsin by way of North Carolina State. Seattle would bow out in the NFC Divisional round to the Chicago Bears, but the Seahawks were well on their way to becoming one of the best teams in football. “He put his helmet on like, “Nah, that s**t didn’t happen.’ You know, that was kind of my, like ‘that’s Drew Brees who just did that. They are 7-9! Nah, this ain’t just happened.’” I look at the big screen and I just see Drew Brees just over there like, ‘What the f**k just happened? Like, are you serious? Like, nah, this s**t ain’t serious, bruh. “And I think after the touchdown, it was a long way back to the sidelines. “But when it happened though, you gotta remember we were just in a situation where we were the only team in the playoffs with a losing record and we got the defending Super Bowl champions coming in there.” “Ten years after the fact, I look at it as more so just like, ’ahhh…is that really me?’” said Lynch to FanSided on behalf of Subway and the Pro Teen Awards. Seeing Drew Brees’ shocked face let Marshawn Lynch know his team had arrived Thriving in life on and off the field, Lynch took the time to reflect on his most definitive play, the one that finally gave the Seahawks flight. Lynch was a five-time Pro Bowler, a two-time All-Pro, a 10,000-yard rusher and a Super Bowl champion in his illustrious NFL career.Īlmost certainly destined for the Pro Football Hall of Fame, Lynch is one of the greatest tailbacks of his generation. How does a sub-.500 team beat the defending Super Bowl champions in the playoffs? His 67-yard, game-clinching touchdown run, christened Beast Quake, helped the sub-.500 2010 Seahawks get an improbable playoff victory over the defending Super Bowl champion New Orleans Saints, leaving star players like Drew Brees completely flabbergasted over what had happened. He then broke a few more tackles and jumped into the end zone for the touchdown.įans later christened the play "Beast Quake" because following Lynch's run, Seahawks fans were cheering so loud that it registered on a nearby seismograph, a machine that measures earthquakes. When Marshawn Lynch gave the world Beast Quake, all he could think about was Drew Brees.ġ0 years ago, former Seattle Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch had the run of his life. Lynch later broke another tackle and stiff-armed the next, throwing the defender to the ground. At first, the play looked dead, but Lynch barreled through three different defenders and eventually broke loose. He retired for a second time after playing just two seasons with the Raiders in 2019.Īrguably one of Lynch's most popular moments as a Seahawk occurred in the 2010 NFC Wild Card Playoff game against the New Orleans Saints.ĭuring the fourth quarter of the game, Lynch had a 67-yard touchdown, while breaking numerous tackles and ultimately sealing the victory for his team. Lynch then returned to the league in 2017 to fulfill a childhood dream of playing with his hometown Oakland Raiders. Lynch played for the Seahawks from 2010 to 2015, but announced his retirement on February 7, 2016. All You Need to Know Ahead of Week 17 of the NFL Season. Which Teams Are in the NFL Playoffs? Its ability to translate text formats is staggering, so it's probably all you really need. Everyone has their favourite, but probably the most popular is Pandoc, which takes nearly any format of document and translates it to nearly any other format. If you don't need fancy graphical interfaces, you can also generate PDFs through plain text with a few handy terminal commands. Scribus, Inkscape, and GIMP all support native PDF export, too, so no matter what kind of document you need to make - a complex layout, formatted text, vector or raster image, or some combination - there's an open source application that meets your needs.įor practically every other application, the CUPS printing system does an excellent job of outputting documents as PDF, because printers and PDFs both rely on PostScript to represent data on page (whether the page is digital or physical). Personally, LibreOffice's export functionality ends up being the source of 95% of the PDFs I create that weren't built for me by a web application. All of these have the ability to complete PDF forms, view and make comments, search for text, select text, and so on.įor a generic, simple, and fast PDF reader, try xpdf. KDE's Okular serves as the PDF reader for the Plasma Desktop. Both Firefox and Chromium, the open source version of Google's Chrome browser, come bundled with in-browser PDF readers, so an external plugin is no longer necessary for most users.įor downloaded files, users of GNOME-based Linux distributions have Evince (or Atril on the GNOME 2 fork, MATE), a powerful PDF reader that handles most documents quickly and with ease. Evince has a Windows port as well, although Windows users may also want to check out the GPLv3-licensed SumatraPDF as an alternative. Reading PDFsįor reading PDFs, these days many people get by without having to use an external application at all. Since PDF files are used in so many different situations for so many different kinds of purposes, you may need to shop around to find the open source alternative to Adobe Acrobat that meets your exact needs. And for Linux users like me, a proprietary application that only runs on Windows or Mac isn't an option anyway. But today, there are numerous open source PDF applications which have chipped away at this market dominance. And, love it or hate it, PDF, the " portable document format," seems to be the go-to format for creating and sharing print-ready files, as well as archiving files that originated as print.įor years, the only name in the game for working with PDF documents was Adobe Acrobat, whether in the form of their free reader edition or one of their paid editions for PDF creation and editing. Until the world moves a little further from paper, print-ready file formats will continue to permeate our digital landscape as well. And I do occasionally admit to reading a paper book, sending a postcard, or (gasp) printing something off to give to someone else. Instead, we've managed to land in an intermediate state of not paperless, but less paper.īetween a trusty scanner, email and various other communication tools, and getting really good at organizing my digital archives, I'm not totally unhappy with where we are today. Charlie and Rex proved helpful in making failed tasks yield the team at least some repayment. This team-up proved surprisingly effective! Carolyn and Vincent prevent team members from wasting turns and trophies in the first-aid station. Vincent Lee restores stamina Charlie Kane and Rex Murphy chip in similarly on a failed task, but while Charlie gets extra trophies, Rex gets an extra clue. But it occurred to me that they each have a “help someone out” ability, so why not band them together? Dr. In this case I chose four investigators I’ve never really liked. What did surprise me was Charlie’s effectiveness-which brings me to team two … “I Got Your Back” But I’ve played those three ladies in so many other teams that “Charlie’s Angels” didn’t hold many surprises. It’s a very good group against pretty much any of the ancient ones. As for Charlie, I’ve always thought lame his special ability to gain extra trophies by helping an investigator who failed a task I plan for characters to succeed. I added Diana because she’s a monster hunter, sort of a combat specialist, which seemed legit for the theme. Jenny and Amanda have long been two of my favorites: Jenny almost always has the bonus red and yellow dice at hand, and Amanda isn’t limited to one task per roll-if she’s got the results to solve several, she can. For this team I chose Jenny Barnes, Amanda Sharpe, Diana Stanley, and Charlie Kane-in that line-up order. This team was assembled on a whim, based on the fact that there’s a Charlie among the 32 characters, and that the game has so many female characters with kick-ass special abilities. Allow me to introduce you to the four so far-and one in the wings. This year I’ve taken a slightly different tack, assembling teams by theme. In previous posts I’ve discussed strategies for using different teams against the seven different “ancient ones.” And even a few instances of playing a single character instead of a team. But the main reason is undoubtedly the tens of thousands of permutations for building a four-person team from a pool of 32 characters. What gives Elder Sign: Omens its longevity on my phone and tablet is partly its portability: I can play a turn or three while riding in the car, for example. Run your synchronisation app every time you login The startup folder on your Mac is at //Macintosh HD/Library/StartupItems but note that in the case of an external drive or USB stick it would need to be connected to run successfully. You might also like to copy the application into the startup items folder to run every time your computer starts. Note that it’s possible to add your sync app to the Login Items (under System Preferences -> User & Groups) to run every time you login, or to create a scheduled task to run the script on a regular basis. Now just run the application you’ve created whenever you want to synchronise the selected folders Choose Save from the File menu and save the workflow as an application, then hit the Save button Save your workflow as an applicationĨ. Make sure you specify the correct source and destination folders Enter the appropriate rsync commands into the workflowħ. In the Run Shell Script dialogue, delete any commands already included by default and replace them with the appropriate rsync commands. The reason is that it’s just going to run as a standalone script and won’t take any files as inputĦ. Under Options at the bottom of the workflow, make sure the checkbox labelled Ignore this action’s input is checked. In the Run Shell Script dialogue, change the Pass input drop-down field to as argumentsĥ. Search for the Run Shell Script action in the search field, then drag the icon into the main window on the right-hand side Find the Run Shell Script command in the Actions listĤ. Choose Workflow when prompted, as below Create a new workflow in Automatorģ. Open Automator from the Applications folder or within SpotlightĢ. This method is particularly effective when you have multiple folders in different locations that need to be synchronised, because you can enter any number of rsync commands into the script.ġ. While rsync certainly gets the job done, it’s much more useful when combined with Automator to simplify the whole process. Note: rsync is a very powerful tool that has dozens of command-line options, so it’s worth reading the user manual in more depth (in Terminal, just type man rsync and press Enter). This example creates a copy of Documents in the top level of the external disk’s folder structure. This example keeps everything in the Home Folder’s Documents directory synchronised with the external disk named MacBook Pro Backup and deletes anything in the destination folder which isn’t already in the source folder. Rsync -aE –delete “~/Documents/” “/Volumes/Macbook Pro Backup/” In the Terminal window type rsync -aE –delete ~/ / “” Open Terminal from the Utilities folder or SpotlightĢ. Rsync is a very useful utility built into Mac OS X which allows the differences between two sets of files to be synchronised. Rsync can also sync data over a network, so if your folders are on another computer this method can be tweaked slightly to use the relevant remote hostname.ġ. And not only that, you can unlock specific weapons using this currency so you don’t have to rely on RNG to get them. Bungie introduced Exotic Ciphers to the game during Season of Arrivals to fix this so Guardians could acquire these older exotic weapons. If you weren’t playing when certain exotics were released, there was no way of earning them. Exotic weapons are an integral part of what makes Destiny 2 such a phenomenal game. A good roll of The Immortal overshadows most SMGs in the PvP sandbox, but a god roll truly cements this gun as Destiny 2's best Legendary SMG.Exotic Ciphers are one of the most important items in the game for newer or returning Guardians that have missed a few seasons of Destiny 2. As for Rangefinder alternatives, you can't go wrong with Surplus or Threat Detector. Kill Clip is another great damage perk, Hatchling has great synergy with Strand builds, and Tap the Trigger gives this weapon an absurd boost to its consistency. This gun is effectively Shayura's Wrath but with an even shorter TTK.Įven if Target Lock gets changed in the future, The Immortal has so many good perks that it'll hardly matter. You can pair this with Rangefinder to obliterate targets from 20+ meters, up to 25 meters with a perfect roll. This 750 RPM SMG has an absurdly fast TTK thanks to Target Lock, a perk that ramps up your damage by landing consecutive shots on a target. The Immortal has quickly shaped the PvP meta since it was introduced in Season of Defiance. How to obtain: Trials of Osiris matches and Engrams. Kill Clip, Tap the Trigger, Elemental Capacitor (Arc) Killing Wind, Tunnel Vision, Dynamic Sway Reduction Overall, Shayura's Wrath is a fantastic weapon for aggressive playstyles and SMG fans alike. For sheer consistency, Dynamic Sway Reduction and Tap The Trigger have great synergy, giving this weapon virtually no recoil and a nice boost to its accuracy. Paired with Kill Clip in the second column, you won't find a better feeling 600 RPM SMG. You can get Killing Wind or Tunnel Vision in the first column to bump its consistency after a kill. That isn't even accounting for its main traits. Few SMGs in Destiny 2 can compete with that. It's possible to get 100 range on Shayura's Wrath with the right roll, causing damage falloff to begin at 25 meters. Once you start accounting for perks and its Adept variant, it's clear that Shayura's Wrath is a trailblazer for SMGs as a whole. That's on par with most god roll SMGs we've included on this list. Without any perks, it can duel at 22 meters. This 600 RPM SMG comes with 59 range and 15 zoom by default. Shayura's Wrath set the bar for what SMGs can do inside the Crucible. If you're looking for a good Kinetic SMG, give Submission a try. It has great base stability, handling, perfectly vertical recoil, one of the cleanest sights in the game, and it can kill Guardians from 25 meters away if you have Encore and Killing Wind active. Get yourself an Adept variant, and you can throw on Adept Range to give this weapon close to 100 range after a single kill. A single precision kill will give you +30 range, extending your damage falloff by four meters. However, dig a little deeper into this weapon's perk pool, and you'll soon realize that this weapon can match the likes of Shayura's Wrath while maintaining the excellent TTK that 900 RPMs are renowned for.īesides getting perks that boost your range stat, Submission has an amazing perk combination that no other SMG can get: Encore and Killing Wind. At first glance, this weapon's base range stat of 29 seems unsalvageable. We also updated a few entries to reflect perk refreshes that came with the release of Lightfall. We've updated this list to include the IKELOS SMG and The Immortal, showcasing their perks pools and explaining what makes them worth farming for. Updated March 26, 2023, by Charles Burgar: New SMGs launched with Lightfall and Season of Defiance, some of which have completely shifted the PvP meta. We'll also give perk recommendations for each weapon to showcase the weapon's true potential. From farmable world drops to raid gear, we'll be covering ten devastating SMGs that excel at 6v6 playlists all the way to the Trials of Osiris. With SMG changes in Season of the Haunted, most SMGs are in a great spot for PvP.
